CHINA SEA – The Novel

Welcome to Asian Affairs. I’ll be writing on subjects that are related to my debut novel, China Sea. The novel will be published in July 2015. The story itself is drawn from my 30+ years of living in Southeast Asia – the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Bali, Indonesia.

China Sea is an espionage thriller. And yes, it is autobiographical. The main settings include Malacca, Manila, Singapore and Bali. The story begins with our hero living the good life in San Francisco, California. The very idea of operating undercover overseas is then the furthest thing from his mind. Until he reads “the help wanted ad from heaven” in a local newspaper. So stay tuned, as I will include posts with excerpts from the story over the next several weeks.

I’ll post my impressions of the many places in Asia where I have lived and visited – including places off the beaten path, from Amed to Zamboanga.
